| Donegal
is a land shrouded in ledgend and myth. Donegal was the birthplace
of Saint Colmcille, who was responsible for the end of Paganism
and the introduction of christianity in Ireland. this section
of the site looks at many of the key heritage sites that make
up the weakth of history Co Donegal commands. |

The
quite and remote village of Glencolmcille is situated just
over 11 miles outside of Killybegs. This area of donegal
has a strong connection with Saint Columba or Comlcille,
who lends his name to the area. It is rumoured that the
saint used this remote area of Ireland as a retreat or haven.
